Can y'all believe it's already been a little over 2 weeks since the Southern Decadence Coronation? We were so excited when Donnie Jay named our long-time friends, Lisa Beaumann and Regina Ann Adams as Southern Decadence Grand Marshals (SDGMs) XXXIII. Now Donnie Jay is an "official has-been."

In the following week after Coronation, we caught up with Lisa and Regina. We were thrilled when they asked us to be in this year's "official" entourage. Yes, girls, we made the cut! With the theme, Jazz & Jezebels, we're going to see a lot of 1920's flappers, glamour girls and gangster men, possibly all in red and purple, the "official" colors. The girls have already spent over $1,000 buying material and feathers. They're going to give the word fab new meaning on the streets of the Quarter for the Official SD Parade Sun., Sept. 4.

The Phoenix was up next for 23 on 23, the 23rd Anniversary blowout and show for the award winning Leather Bar of the Year. Our own lovely Phyllis Denmark was emcee for this evening of debauchery. Her first ensemble certainly should earn her a nomination in the Fly Fashion Victim Award category for next year's Gay Appreciation Awards. It was pretty ugly.

However, it all was in fun, and the huge lineup of performers were there to entertain the packed house. Even bar baron Jamie Temple Black Leather strutted his stuff bringing the crowd to a fever pitch. Shortly after the show began, we heard a whistle at the door, announcing the arrival of one of the SDGMs XXXIII, Regina Ann, with has-been Donnie Jay in tow. It was a spectacle girls! There were so many crowd favorites, so make sure y'all check out Ambush Paparazzi in this edition to get a view of the "girls." If y'all missed it, y'all missed an incredible night of fun on the Phoenix stage atop their pool table.

We had to bid our farewells and get on over to Big Daddy's. Rusty's Zoo Revue was up next and when we arrived SDGM XXXI Rusty LaRoux was on stage with new SDGM XXXIII Regina Adams, both looking ever so glamorous. Much to our surprise, Guadalupe was all dolled up in the house to emcee this Show Bar of the Year Top 5 Finalist. He is absolutely hysterical, and certainly made the evening for us.

We got to see Guadalupe, Princesse Stephaney, Opal Vanderhurst, Sandy Phillips and Rusty herself hit the stage. But, of course, as always, the show behind the bar with has-been SDGMs Wayne White and Mumbo, was just as good.

Sunday rolled around and it was time for the 18th annual Gay Appreciations Awards Gala. And was it fab! The entertainment this year was absolutely over the top. All of the Top 5 Show Bar of the Year Finalists presented production numbers, along with special guests, the Austin Babtist Women. But we also had a special performance from GAA Founder Marcy Marcell and last year's Entertainer of the Year, Bianca Del Rio.

We sure all owe Marcy Marcell a debt of gratitude for founding the GAA. It showcases the "best of the best" in the Gulf South GLBT community with 19 of the awards publicly voted on by the readership of Ambush Mag. The emcees Lisa Beaumann and Teryl-Lynn Foxx did a superb job as always, and this year's trophy girl, Vicki Vynes, was a great help. We also have to thank DJ Dan Meaux for giving us a totally professional set up for sound and mic service. And let's not forget our friend Paul Van Geffen who worked the door for us. And then there's all the great bartenders at Body & Soul, Marty, Rene, Blake and Lil.

The annual event is now a fund-raiser for Buzzy's Boys & Girls raising $2,878 for the popular AIDS charity. VIP Table sales, door sales and stage tips brought in the dollars for Buzzy's Kids. Thanks to all of you for making this possible.

It was off to Oz for a special Wednesday Show Night extravaganza, the going-away show for one of the best loved divas in New Orleans, Teryl-Lynn Foxx. She's decided to retire from a regular performance schedule, but we will still get to see her on very special occasions.

The word was out and Oz was standing room only for this night honoring Teryl-Lynn. She dazzled us, her many fans, with her expertise and some of her most popular numbers. Oh, come on, any number Teryl-Lynn chooses is always popular with the crowd. And did she make the duckies! She could hardly carry all of that cash off of the stage. It was also so wonderful to see her sisters and niece travel in for the show.

Teryl-Lynn was joined by all the regulars for this night of entertainment. There was new SDGM XXIII Lisa Beaumann, Coca, Amber Nicole Welch and Vivica Devereaux. And, of course, there was that nasty "bitch" of an emcee, Bianca Del Rio. She really should win "Cunt of the Century."

Manager Justin made a very special presentation at the end of the show with fellow cast members on stage presenting Teryl-Lynn with a real pearl necklace, a tribute to her work at both Show Bar and Dance Bar of the Year, Oz New Orleans.
