Austin's Last Splash WeekendIt's time to make the annual pilgrimage and head on over to Austin, Texas because it's party time this coming Labor Day weekend. The Austin Tavern Guild (ATG) hosts their annual Last Splash on the sunny shores and rocks of Hippie Hollow at Lake Travis. Last Splash weekend runs from Fri., Sept. 4 through Mon., Sept. 7. Beer, barges, boats, music and hot basking on the rocks like seals all are in store coming up Sun., Sept. 6 at the lake. Free wristbands may be obtained from all ATG members on Sat., Sept. 5 for free beer from the host barges on the lake. Last Splash is Gay Texas' last summer event sponsored by ATG. Members of the ATG who proudly host Last Splash include Ambush Magazine 2000 with GayWorld.Net, 'Bout Time, Charlie's Austin, Dick's Deja Disco, Midtowne Spa, Oilcan Harry's, and Rainbow Cattle Company. Others include Rhythm House, Splash Video Bar, The Edge, The Forum, and The United Court of Austin, Tropical Heat Caf‚, 1920's Club and the newest member, The Texas Triangle. Corporate sponsor of the Last Splash includes Capital City Beverage - Coors Brewing Company.
Along with Last Splash, Labor Day weekend also hosts RIP'D with great circuit parties sponsored by Ben Parsley and Splash Productions. Starting on Fri., Sept. 4, the weekend kicks off with Reunion, a welcome to Austin party hosted at Oilcan Harry's located at 211 W. 4th St. Cover is $5 at the door starting from 8pm-2am. On Sat, Sept 5, it's the famous Captain Morgan's Rum Run held at Hippie Hollow at Lake Travis. There will be 4 party barges loaded with food, drinks, dance floor & hot guys all dancing to the music of DJ Michael Tank from 11am-5:30pm. Nighttime brings RIP'D where men are encouraged to wear old unripped T-shirts and the rest taken care of at the event. RIP'D will be held at the Austin Music Hall located at 209 Nueces St. from 9pm-4am with DJ Julian Marsh from NYC.
On Sun., Sept 6, it is Last Splash hosted by the ATG at Hippie Hollow, Lake Travis from 12 noon till 4pm. Last Splashers are encouraged to drink responsibly and party safely at the lake and around Austin. Parsley and Splash Productions kicks into the night with Revival Sunday Tea from 5pm-10pm held at The Forum, 408 Congress St. The DJ is Mark MacEwan from Atlanta. Ben Parsley also hosts Resurrection - Rise Again held later that night from 9pm-dawn at LaZona Rosa located at 612 W 4th St. The DJ is Brian Norwood from Philadelphia. Look for pictures and a full review in next Ambush...Mark your calendars because it is time once again for Club Skirts on Sat., Aug. 29 and CAMP - Cornerstone Austin Men's Party on Sun., Aug. 30. Even bartender Jesse, a.k.a. Ms. Nacha Type, shook her utters in fun. At Charlie's, we managed to see recent performances of Lauren Taylor get down and sweat her tits off in her great outfits created by Mr. Diva seamstress Jason. Don't forget, Charlie's and 'Bout Time's Tropical Nights Party is this weekend...Speaking of 'Bout Time (BT's) - Congrats to two couples, Ben Pena (a.k.a. Diana Dior) and Wayne Marion on celebrating 18 years together this month. Their anniversary party at BT's will be held Sat. the 29th. Also, congrats to Rusty Stofa and Peter Magallanez on their commitment in celebration of union held last weekend with the wedding and reception held at 'Bout Time. Miss Bibi Gunn performed a solo song at the wedding...Speaking of Miss Gunn, who is this man, called JuJu, in your life these days? We hear that he leaves calling cards, but has yet to make appearances. We know it is not Matt, a.k.a. Mona Lee, who was overheard stating that she does not get horny until her 6th drink, or was that the 6th man in the parking lot? Her show at Charlie's recently was just spectacular including the Eartha Kitt slip down and then onto a divine Baby-Ruth... We hear that Mona's twin, Miss Disgust-A-Blush (Augusta Blush), is celebrating her one-year celibacy this Labor Day in being single and is looking for either wrist-support or battery donations...DJ Raul was overheard recently stating to the masses that he is now a Hispanic and not a Mexican, and doesn't everyone know the difference?...This coming Sat. at BT's, come out and support TGRA candidate Jim Tennessen in his benefit show at 10:30pm. Also at 'Bout Time, come out on the 29th for the Lesbolympics Pool Tournament.
Over at Dick's, we hear customers really like bartender Garold-so much so, that one customer, Lanie, grabbed his left nipple ring and pulled the souvenir right off...At Oilcan's, we hear Matthews is at Airplane School still these days, but is grounded. Way to go with the newly remodeled floors, Oilcans. No more tripping the light fantastic on the old wood or carpets...It was overheard and seen recently that Oilcan's Steve H. was hot after a certain Charlie's Austin dancer named David...Coming up the weekend of Aug 28-30, the Forum will be hosting Muscle Beach Weekend with an N8 Fashion Show on Fri., their Sweat and Bare it Circuit Party on Sat., and then wrapping up on Sun. with the 2nd annual Mr. Muscle Beach Best Body Contest.
Austinitie Bryan is very happy these days now that hubby Mitch has come back working from California...Remember the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival (AGLIFF) begins Fri., Aug. 28th and ends Thurs., Sept. 10. Most all shows are at the Dobie Mall Theatre in Austin.
