French Quarter 10
Sponsors Pride "Drag Stage"

The French Quarter 10, consisting of one organization and nine businesses, will sponsor the first separate Pride Fest Drag Stage. Hosted at Armstrong Park September 26th and 27th, Pride Fest '98 will bring many new venues to New Orleans' 19th Annual Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender festival. Armstrong Park's large size and proximity to the French Quarter will enable New Orleans Alliance of Pride, producers of Pride Fest, to reach out to the diverse GLBT community targeting activities towards all segments. The festival has been held at much smaller Washington Square Park in previous years.

The French Quarter 10 includes AMBUSH Mag, AMBUSHonLINE, Double Play, Footloose, Friends For Friends, Golden Lantern, Mother Bob's, Roundup, TT's and Wolfendale's. Members of the group each put up $100 for a total of $1,000 covering the cost of the stage, sound equipment and dressing tent. The French Quarter 10 will be recognized on the stage banner and in ad promotions donated by Ambush.

New Orleans' own Tiffany Rae Button will direct entertainment appearing on the Drag Stage. Anyone interested in performing should contact Tiffany Rae at Footloose, 700 N. Rampart. Tiffany Rae will present a final roster soon to the New Orleans Alliance of Pride Board for their approval.

Ms. Verona Celebrates 59.95/60th B-Day

New Orleans legend Ms. Verona celebrated her 59.95/ 60th birthday with friends and bar patrons filling the Golden Lantern, Official Home of Southern Decadence. The lovely Lucille threw this shindig complete with hot Corner Pocket dancer Atilla as Ms. Verona's present.

Ted was kept busy "milking the cow", his favorite thing to do when we stop in. He loves to extract wine from those adorable boxes, kept in stock by lovely Lucille.

Ms. Verona's friends and associates brought in a potluck buffet fit for any queen of her variety. Food was the last thing on Ms. Verona's mind with Atilla dancing and sittin' on his lap. It was quite a sight to see.

"Oh! What A Drag VI"
Raises Over $3,000

Bourbon Pub/Parade's annual turnabout extravaganza "Oh! What A Drag VI" raised over $3,000 for Food For Friends. The all night blowout this year came complete with bar top drag dancers, floor drag hostesses and even a late night stage drag show.

All of the bar personnel and many of the bar's patrons got all dolled up, giving those of us in attendance a night to remember. They were all lovely, but Yvette girl, you really looked like a REAL woMAN!
