BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANAVictoria Valentine Makes It Official
When one candidate abdicates the throne and the runner-up moves into the top spot, it requires the blessings of the hierarchy. Thus it was last week when Victoria Valentine received her crown as the new Miss Hide-A-Way. As far as I'm concerned, this lovely lassie can have any title she wants. She is one of the most talented and vivacious impersonators on the scene right now, and I couldn't say this at this time last year. That's just how good she is and how she has made such a massive stride to perfection.
The crowning event took place during the fundraiser held in Valentine's honor. The show was one of the best I've seen recently. Of course, when you have those Lafayette beauties on stage, you have the best of all the rest. Take a look at the lineup of talent. There was Topaz (Miss Gay Lafayette), Robin Guidry (Ms. R.O.U.), the beautiful Carrione Synclaire, the only Baton Rougean in the group (the former Miss Gay Louisiana and Miss Apollo Baton Rouge, among her many titles), Stephanie Stephens (the reigning Queen R.O.U.), the spectacular lady herself, Miss Shayla Gray (Miss Lake Shores of Lake Charles), Taylor Stephens (Miss Capitol City), the extremely gorgeous Savannah Leigh (Miss Emerald City), and the winner of a number of titles, wonderful Cartier.
Taylor Stephens Wins Title
Lafayette beauty Taylor Stephens walked off with the Miss Capitol City title at Evolution. This took place while I was in Key West, but I finally caught up with her to get the scoop and take pictures for Ambush. Stephens is just one of the many Lafayette talents going to the Miss Gay Louisiana pageant to be held in September in Alexandria at Unique. Winning this title puts her right in there with over thirty other talented performers. According to what I can learn about the Miss America pageant system, Louisiana and Texas are always the biggest supporters in the number of contests to garner the state honors.
While at Evolution last week, I managed to hang out with one of the most gorgeous guys around. It's none other than Ricky, with a body that is better than anything in International Male catalogs. That's right! I've always felt that Ricky is one of those underrated beauties who doesn't seek the limelight. He just lights up everything and everyone in his presence. He's Hair and Jason's roommate. Talk about a fine threesome. They don't get any better than that.
I also chatted with Brian, Evolution's outstandingly handsome bartender, and he is a fine example of the quality standard that George has for his dance emporium. I've watched lots of guys come and go, but Brian kinda' stands tall among the others. He's not alone in this category, but the list would be too long for this format. And besides, you don't come with a better personality than this hunk.
Mr., Miss Apollo Named
When it comes to winning titles, the men of Apollo have always backed some great ones. This year's contest saw Sias Bonet and Tori Taylor win the coveted titles of Mr. and Miss Baton Rouge Apollo. First runner-ups were Scott Turner and Tori Randall.
Among the outstanding talents at this event was a return after a long break of the dynamic and beautiful Miss Marilyn Mills. Over the years, many have come and gone, but Marilyn Mills still glows with that same enthusiasm she had when I first met her. Unlike many others, she's outstanding in every respect. I've never heard a derogatory remark made about her. It has always been praise. That is an accomplishment that few others can claim. Marilyn Mills is just a fabulous human being, and she's always there when you need a helping hand. Bless you, my friend.
Miscellanea
This has been a week of trips, visits, and plans for trips. TTT was in Shreveport doing his business thing. Kyle took off for another trip to Denver and a repeat performance in the wilderness. Rob had a friend in from the D.C. area. Kevin took care of some LEGAL work. The Lagpac function got postponed. Richard asked Damon if he was interested in an Austin trip. Guy got into it last week, and since this is a family newspaper, I just can't bring myself to tell you what he did to that boy. Finis is leaving the capital city for the capital city of Texas. Greg is eagerly awaiting the Mr. Louisiana Leather contest. Rip and Marsha made a quick trip to BR for business. Gene R. dropped his pants and mooned the audience at George's. (Now ain't that nice!) Kyle and James are in antique heaven again over on Government Street. Sweet, gorgeous, delectable Kenny Hebert of Lafayette dropped in to see some locals. Michael, Kevin, and Ken gave a helping hand to the bookman in his and Rob's greenhouse project. Tom and Don have added some fabulous leather merchandise at Hibiscus South (located in the Blue Parrot). And that gorgeous Mark (over at George's) keeps on making great photography scoops because he just happens to be the best and most professional in the business and with the great prices to boot. And finally thanks once more to all those great guys who made Key West such a great place to be--fantastic Raymond, the two Davids, Thad, Javier, Ernesto, Ken, Jason, Philip, Jon, Daniel, Kevin, Scott, Tony, Dee, Gia, little Dave, Bertrand, Mohassine, and all the guys at Big Ruby's. Oh! That reminds me. Ask me about sex in Morocco sometimes. Cheers!
