Southern Decadence At Bourbon Pub/Parade

I n anticipation of their biggest weekend ever, the Bourbon Pub and Parade have announced their weekend lineup for Southern Decadence-and you won't want to miss a single day of the action.

Things get going on Thursday night at the Parade with the Big Dick Contest-the official kick-off contest of Southern Decadence weekend. It'll be hosted by the fabulous Scarlet O'Hara Butler, with a panel of celebrity judges headed up by none other than Miss Love, Southern Decadence Grand Marshal XXV! The cash prize will be awarded based on length times circumference, with other prizes for prettiest, best groomed, and best dressed also being awarded. People are still talking about the Parade's Big Dick Contest from this past Mardi Gras so you don't miss this sequel!

On Friday, the incomparable., legendary porn director Chi Chi Larue will take to the stage at the Parade with her bevy of boys for a show that you just have to see to believe. And, Miss LaRue will be at the Pub and Parade all weekend long cutting up and "recruiting" new talent. If you've never seen Chi Chi live in action, prepare yourself. If you have, you'll be front row center for her show on Friday night. And dance music for Friday night at the Parade will be circuit DJ Lydia Prim.

Direct from New York City, New Orleans' own DJ Max Rodriguez will be joining DJ Darren Thomas for the Parade's Deca-Dance '97 on Saturday night. And, after the street party on Sunday, the Parade will present the climax of Decadence weekend with special guest DJ Abel direct from Miami. Considered by all to be a member of circuit party DJ royalty, this will be Abel's third performance at the Parade, and will no doubt be the place to be Sunday night.

To wrap things up, there will be a Tea Dance at the Parade on Monday afternoon/evening with free draft.

A limited number of VIP Weekend Passes to the Bourbon Pub and Parade are on sale at Hit Parade, located directly across the street from The Bourbon Pub. Save money and avoid the lines by grabbing one of these passes before they sell out.

Chi Chi LaRue's New Book Now At Hit Parade

P orn director legend Chi Chi LaRue, who will be appearing live on stage with her boys at the Parade on Fri., Aug. 30th, has a new book out, and it's the hottest expose about the porn industry since the Joey Stefano blockbuster of a few years ago. During decadence weekend you can meet Chi Chi and purchase an autographed copy of her book at Hit Parade, New Orleans' newest and hippest gift and clothing store, located directly across from the Bourbon Pub/Parade on the corner of Bourbon and St. Ann Streets.

Making it Big is the classic American rags-to-riches story-with a twist. It's about a young lad from Minnesota who traveled to California to become part of an industry he loved with all his heart: gay porn. And when he makes it big, there is no stopping the irresistible Chi Chi LaRue. Chi Chi has directed more than 100 all-male erotic films and has won numerous awards for his groundbreaking work in the adult video industry. He has also performed as a female impersonator in cities from Paris to Peoria, and his next stop is right here at the Parade for decadence. Don't miss it!!

FM Bookstore SD Events

The Faubourg Marigny Bookstore, New Orleans' only gay book emporium owned and operated by Alan Robinson, has scheduled two readings and receptions for two recently published books set in New Orleans to coincide with Southern Decadence.

Sat., Aug. 30, from 2-4pm, Rhydell Watson will read excerpts from To Mardi Gras Wit/ Love, a romantic comedic thriller about two African-American professional married (to each other) men preparing to seize the French Quarter. It is also a tribute to Mardi Gras and reveals two black men in a solid, committed relationship enjoying the good life and enjoying each other.

Also Sat., Aug. 30, from 6-8pm, Poppy Brite will read from Exquisite Corpse. Already an established cult favorite with Lost Souls and Drawing Blood, author Brite reaches a new level of horror in her third novel, a cannibalistic, necrophillic love story set in the Quarter which describes a four-way collision of an escaped serial killer, a disturbed playboy, a gay Vietnamese runaway and his crazed HIV positive ex-lover.
