Houston, TexasI recently visited the little town of Alexandria, LA. The last time I'd been there, a few months ago, I was with the Tri-State Pageant. I was shocked when I arrived in this little town: the people were very friendly and the night life of Alexandria gave me new opportunities and ideas to perfect my show business. Many, many thanks to Alexanderia and to the Unique bar for such a warm welcome!
Now on to Houston! A city of entertainment and a carbon copy of the great cities like New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Atlanta, where showgirls never end and the entertainment goes on and on. Except in Houston, the nightlife begins early but ends around 2am, due to the T.A.B.C rules and regulations. Let's hope this will change some day!
At EJ's all those rules and regulations don't stop them from entertaining you. They're even in the process of building a new dance floor. In the meantime, there's a male strip show 3 nights a week: Mon., Wed., and Fri., with Paivi Lee Love. Tuesday is their Talent night , with the Roxanne; and Saturday is their Show night starring Paivi Lee Love, Lana Blake, Dyan Michaels, Stephen Baker, Kelly Lauren and Roxanne. I encourage you guys to come out for this-you really don't want to miss it!
Midtowne Spa is welcoming the most popular adult actor in the business, J.T. Sloan, to Austin (Fri., Sept. 11), Houston (Sat., Sept. 12) and Dallas (Sun., Sept. 13). The new show schedule at Houston's Midtowne includes professional dancers on Wed., Thurs., and Fri. Sun. features their Wet Jockey Contest.
Rich's just celebrated its 15th birthday. In September they're bringing in the talented disco diva Thelma Houston to perform her popular hit "Don't Leave Me This Way." Advance tickets are on sale at Basic Brothers, La Strada, and Copy.Com.
On Sept. 19, Miss Camp America will be having their thirtieth annual pageant at the University of Houston Cullen Performance Hall. Tickets are $25, $45, $65, $100, 150 and are available at Ticket Master, Fiesta, Foley's, Randalls or by calling 713.629.3700. Proceeds benefit the Assistance Fund, Bering Dental Clinic, Casa De Esperanza, Montrose Clinic-Frost Eye Clinic, The Name Project, PWA Holiday Charities, Steven's House, Texas Children-Camp Hope. So come on down and "Spice Up Your Life" (This year's theme).
But night life doesn't mean night clubs to everyone. Some people have their own ways of socializing. The Gay and Lesbian Movie Club is a social organization in Houston. After going out to eat, they see a movie together on Fri. and Sat. nights. There are no dues or fees to join. (But of course you do have to pay for your own food and entertainment!) Members range from young adults to senior citizens, couples and singles, and are from every social and economic background. Some even come from out of town to attend their meetings. To find out what restaurant they are meeting at and what movie they are planning to see for the week, call their hotline at 281.835.5312 and listen to the recording. This information is generally available by Wed. before their chosen movie on Fri. or Sat., or you can also visit them on the World Wide Web at: www.gay-houston.com/movies. Good luck guys.
