Flickin' with Brad

Top Movies, Stars of the Year
Chosen For Bradleys

It's that time of the year when everyone picks their favorites in any number of categories. The movies released in 1997 were a big improvement over previous years, and picking the top ten was not an easy thing to do. Each individual has a favorite, so this list contains my own personal choices. You may not agree with the list, but to me, they were very good and thoroughly enjoyable.

Like the regular mainstream movies, late releases may not have reached this reviewer until after the first of the year, so if you notice a 1996 movie, it is one released late in the year. For what it's worth, here are my favorites, which I honor with my special Bradley stamp of approval, and how to get copies, if you so desire.

My very favorite movie of the year actually started out as a local release, but it made the big time via All Worlds Video, 1.800.537.8024. It was Mardi Gras Cowboy, a very special creation of Vidkid Timo with a little help from that outrageously talented, handsome, and wonderful Jim Buck. They've now formed their own company, so look for next year's list to contain a little movie called At Twilight Come the Flesh Eaters. This combo of talents is sure to please you in any thing they do.

Following Mardi Gras Cowboy, the rest of the top ten Bradley picks look like this: Anchor Hotel-Kristen Bjorn Productions, 1.800.344.5142; The Last Taboo-Studio 2000, 1.800.435.2445; A Tale of Two Brothers-All Worlds Video, 1.800.537.8024; Souvenirs-Bel Ami Video, 484-B Washington St., #342, Monterey, CA 93940-3030; Amazon Adventure-another Kristen Bjorn movie; Missionary Position-Hollywood Sales, 1.800.562.5428; The Academy-another from Hollywood Sales; So Fine-Hollywood Sales again; Trying It On For Size-Studio 2000 again.

And no list would be complete without a mention of the top stars of the year. My choice this year has to be former Mississippian and current resident of New Orleans, Jim Buck, with a very close runner-up position going to Logan Reed, who I understand hails from Colorado. Matt Bradshaw (a good Louisiana lad) came in as my third choice followed by fantastic Ryan Wagner, beautiful Derek Cameron, cute Richie Fine, and mighty Johnny Hanson.

The Bradley Dud Award for 1997 goes to Ryan Idol.
